I know what you’re thinking: Paris for a romantic trip is about as groundbreaking as florals for spring. But my stay at Hotel Lutetia on the Left Bank of Paris was anything but ordinary.
I decided to surprise my boyfriend with a city break. I wanted to pull out the big guns because we hadn't been away together in over a year. Hotel Lutetia delivered on every front. Nestled in the chic and less touristy Left Bank, this hotel is more than just a place to stay — it’s an experience.
The Left Bank has long been synonymous with elegance, art, and jazz. Authors like Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald made this area their playground during the Jazz Age of the 1920s, and you can still feel echoes of its glamour in the perfectly curated boutiques, decadent yet minimal restaurants, and the effortless style of its locals. Hotel Lutetia perfectly marries this rich history with modern luxury. From the moment you step into its grand foyer, lined with glass cases displaying high fashion as art, you know you’re in for something special
Our arrival set the tone for the stay. We were warmly welcomed by their guest relations team who showed us to our room where we found an exotic fruit platter, a bottle of champagne, and a large chocolate heart with a handwritten note. But the hotel didn’t stop there.

The next day we returned to the room to find our pillowcases personalised with each of our initials on our sides of the bed. Later that day, they transformed our room again: balloons, candles, a rose petal bath, and even a lipstick-drawn message on the mirror that read, “May this trip on the Left Bank bring you closer, and every moment be filled with love and laughter.”
It’s hard to put into words how this level of care and thoughtfulness impacted us, but that note distilled everything this trip was about. We laughed, we reconnected, and we left behind the mundanity of everyday life to revel in each other’s company.
Most days, it was hard to rip ourselves away from the hotel to explore beyond its walls. If it hadn’t been my boyfriend's first time in Paris, I doubt we’d have ventured further than a mile radius from our hotel, if we’d made it out at all. The hotel hosts a huge Brasserie as well as its more relaxed Le Saint-Germain dining room, a jazz bar (and a secret speakeasy, IYKYK) plus a library, a boutique and a fully equipped spa and gym.
We spent one evening sipping cocktails as live jazz filled the grand space of Bar Josephine - a perfectly moody nod to the hotel’s jazz-age heritage. The place was buzzing with all kinds of chic locals, from women draped in sparkles on dates to friends lounging and catching up. We’d have struggled to get a seat if not for the amazing guest relations team, who reserved us the perfect table right in front of the live jazz singer. We swanned into our prime seats before chatting the hours away, knowing we had nothing to do and nowhere else to be. Throughout our stay, it was as if the entire hotel was telling us, “We’ve thought of everything so you don’t have to.”

The Brasserie Lutetia, where we had our first lunch and every breakfast, was an equally unforgettable space. It was split across two floors and a terrace, all of which flooded with natural light. Its menu was equally bright with quintessentially French flavours like fresh seafood and onion soup, as well as modern twists like Thai curry butter fried frog legs. The staff elevated our experience at this restaurant, particularly our server Elysee, who made us feel so welcome in such a luxe environment, epitomising the hotel’s ability to make you feel both at home and utterly spoiled.
And yes, I slept like a log.

If it wasn’t for the occasional rumble of the metro, you’d be forgiven for forgetting you’re in Paris at all - at least, the Paris of TikTok and crowded landmarks. The Left Bank is a world of its own, offering hidden gems like Nicolas, a wine store tucked just behind the hotel, and quaint streets begging to be explored. This trip wasn’t about ticking off tourist sites; it was about us. Hotel Lutetia provided the perfect backdrop for introspection, meaningful conversations, and connection. It’s a place where you can focus inward, on your relationship, rather than outward on a packed itinerary. Whether you’re enjoying a jazz night in the bar, savouring breakfast at Brasserie Lutetia, or simply lounging in your room surrounded by thoughtful touches, every moment feels special.
Our stay felt like a love letter to the Left Bank’s glamour and to the romance of our relationship. If you’re looking to rekindle, celebrate a milestone, or simply escape the everyday with your partner, this might just be the most romantic hotel in Paris. Trust me, you’ll win all the Valentine’s Day points.
