Best Valentine's Day package
Why we love it: A quiet and photogenic oasis amongst the near-chaos of the surrounding Shoreditch and Liverpool Street area, One Hundred Shoreditch is housed in what used to be the Ace Hotel's building. Visit during the week and you'll be greeted by the city's coolest and most in-the-know tapping away on their laptops in the low-lit lobby, fancy coffee in-hand. At the weekend? Much the same crowd, aside cocktails instead of caffeine – making the most of the property's location close to Columbia Road, Spitalfields market and some of the capital's buzziest bars.
The bedrooms are muted in colour-palette, contemporary and very modern – with design features like preserved eucalyptus, floor-to-ceiling tapestries, leather and raffia – where sunset lighting brings the romance. On the roof, find one of the best rooftop bars we've visited (very here for the pink marble, cacti and terracotta), and in the basement, Mexican bar and restaurant Seed Library. The small plates are to die for.
The best part? This Valentine's Day, the hotel has launched a V-Day package called “What's Your Pleasure?” which is so damn good. Picture the scene: you're atop a cloud-like bed with the love of your life, tucking into G-Spot cocktails and mocktails, and indulging in LELO vibrators while reading Want, the Gillian Anderson book of anonymous fantasies. You also get complimentary Sticks’n’Sunrise breakfast downstairs, a complimentary room upgrade and complimentary late checkout. Stunning.
Address: 100 Shoreditch High St, London E1 6JQ.
Most romantic hotel in East London
Why we love it: “I stayed at Hyde Hotel with my partner for a mid-week treat at the end of last year, and we both had such a lovely time,” Sophie Cockett, GLAMOUR's Senior Commerce Editor said. "It's a charming new hotel, housed in a historic building in the middle of Square Mile, which has been taken over by Ennismore Hotel Group – the same group who own our beloved The Hoxton hotels.
"I arrived feeling a little burnt-out and bedraggled, but the lovely team in the inviting lobby made me feel relaxed and welcome within seconds. I'd already poked my head into the stylish bar and restaurant space, Leydi, before the team had completed my checkout. More on that later.
"Upstairs in our room, I was pleasantly surprised with the more-spacious-than-expected size. Totally perfect for couples. It's all very open-plan – you can see through the well-lit bathroom and into the bedroom space – with dark wood furnishings and opulent wallpaper. Inspired by 19th-century botanists. There were Malin+Goetz toiletries, which I made the most of over a pre-dinner pamper.
“On the note of dinner, I'll bring you back downstairs to Turkish restaurant Leydi – one of my now-favourite restaurants in London. I sat on a comfy pink sofa for the entirety of my dinner, selected dishes from a bespoke menu marbling inspired by the traditional Turkish art, Ebru, and tucked into incredible meze. Think: slow-cooked aubergine, lamb kebabs and Börek, a crispy filo pastry filled with feta. The vibes were immaculate.”
Address: 15 Old Bailey, City of London, London EC4M 7EF.
Most romantic hotel for night life
Why we love it: "I had walked past, what is now, Virgin Hotel Shoreditch many a time before the property changed hands last summer – so when I heard that the Virgin Hotels group had taken over 45 Curtain Road, I was so eager to enjoy a stay. After all, there is no building more appropriate to showcase the Virgin brand than an industrial, red-brick cornerstone of the East London community.
"A playful lobby space, finished with neon lights, surprising features (a faux-flower-adorned mirror room, anyone?) and Crittall windows, set the tone for the fun-yet-luxurious stay – and the team were friendly and inviting. Upstairs, in the suite we had been upgraded to, I loved the exposed original brickwork and the separation between sleeping and living spaces. The team had left out a fruit platter and Champagne, which were both inhaled before my coat had come off, and the corner sofa was the perfect spot from which to spend the afternoon watching the rugby.
“Our bedroom had a free-standing bath which looked over the bustling Shoreditch high-street below, and the walk-in shower had a steam feature, which transformed the space into a private steam room. Post-pamper, we ventured into the nearby Spitalfields Market for drinks – before lucking into tapas and a Iberico pork paella bigger than our heads in the hotels' Bibo restaurant. Romance levels = 100."
Address: 45 Curtain Rd, London EC2A 3PT.
Most romantic hotel in Notting Hill
The Princess Royal, Notting Hill
Why we love it: The latest opening from the Cubitt House Group, The Princess Royal, is now open in the heart of Notting Hill – and boy is it worth a visit. After a major renovation which has restored the building to its former glory, the property boasts a beautiful restaurant and bar downstairs (more on that later), plus four relaxing and elegantly-designed bedrooms which are perfect for a city staycation.
The bedrooms – as well as the opulent restaurant interiors – have been designed by Director Georgie Pearman, and inspired by the pub's Victorian heritage, are rich in textures, fabrics and colour. Think: hand-printed wallpaper, colour-pop velvet headboards and free-standing bath tubs sitting under large, abstract canvases. Georgie has highlighted British suppliers in the bedrooms, through partnerships with British bathroom manufacturer Lefroy Brooks, plus Rapture & Wright, the brains behind many of the hand-printed fabrics and wallpapers on show. The result is a photogenic yet cosy and functional space which acts as a total sanctuary from the bustling streets of West London below.
As for the restaurant and bar? It's open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks – serving a selection of sharing and main plates influenced by the flavours of the Mediterranean. Chef Director Ben Tish is the brains behind the divine dishes on offer: the Fiorentina-style T-bone steak from the Josper oven and the indulgent lemon curd doughnuts among our most-loved.
Address: 47 Hereford Rd, London W2 5AH.
Most romantic, luxury hotel
Why we love it: We’ve been obsessed with The Ned since the day it opened back in 2017. It’s a five-star establishment which makes you feel like you’ve stepped into 1900s New York from the moment you enter. It has 250 bedrooms, ten restaurants, a spa, a gym and a private members club - the ground floor Malibu Kitchen serves an insane breakfast. You’ll want to stay for a week, let alone a night.
Address: 27 Poultry, City of London, London EC2R 8AJ.

Most romantic, boutique hotel
Why we love it: We’ve been dreaming of staying in one of the Artist Residence hotels forever. Each and every one (London, Brighton, Oxford and Penzance) are Instagram heavens, with their London offering sitting pretty between the realms of Chelsea, the Tate and Westminster. Downstairs is an all-day hangout and restaurant complete with pop art, neon and shabby chic decor. In the basement, there’s a speak-easy style cocktail den. Basically, you won’t have to leave for the entire weekend.

Most romantic hotel in Southwark
Why we love it: A short stroll from the Southbank’s theatres, galleries and restaurants is the Hoxton’s latest hotel: The Hoxton Southwark. There are 192 rooms which come in five room types: showbox, snug, cosy, roomy and biggie. Industrial features are juxtaposed against luxurious features like panelled headboard and handmade glassware. Touches like free breakfast bags make it a home away from home, and the rooftop restaurant, Seabird, boasts panoramic views across the entire city. Staycation perfection.
Address: 40 Blackfriars Rd, London SE1 8NY.

Most romantic hotel for tourists
Why we love it: Thanks to its stellar location aside London's Liverpool Street station, you'd be forgiven for thinking Hyatt's Andaz Liverpool Street concept was a commuter hotel – the perfect base for bank-going businesswomen – and nothing more. After all, said accessibility and the early-morning breakfast offering could easily throw you off scent. But things are not all as they seem.
From the moment you step into the vibrant, mood-lit lobby – adorned with modern art, murals and jungle-themed wallpaper inspired by its colourful neighbourhood – you realise Andaz is an entire destination in itself. Not just a pre-meeting stopover. The Tower of London, bustling Spitalfields market, St Paul’s Cathedral and Whitechapel Gallery are all within walking distance, and the relaxed-yet-efficient staff cannot do enough to make you feel serene and ready to kick-back immediately.
There are 267 bedrooms decorated in contrastingly muted tones – aside a few injections of red and orange – with impossibly-high ceilings (for the most part), supremely comfortable beds, minibars with free snacks, and a selection of luxe toiletries formulated by local brand T-London. All hidden down quiet, maze-like corridors. 14 of their rooms are “large suites” with separate living areas – ideal for a longer stay – and one room is entitled the Design Suite, created by the late Sir Terence Conran.
Downstairs, there are five wonderful bars and restaurants – granted, a little busier with those enjoying a post-work re-fuel – from Japanese restaurant Miyako to classic pub Lady Abercorn’s. We ate in Rake’s, which serves Hogarth-inspired cocktails and small plates (the spiced cauliflower popcorn and salt and pepper calamari are not to be missed), but were still hungry enough to tuck into one of the best hotel breakfasts I've had in a long time the following morning. It's also worth noting that in the centre of the hotel, there is another bar, complete with 24-hour access pool tables for a bit of healthy date night competition. A mid-week stay was quiet, convenient and mood-boosting – and one I definitely hope to repeat.
Address: 40 Liverpool St, City of London, London EC2M 7QN.
Most romantic hotel on Park Lane
London Marriott Hotel, Park Lane
Why we love it: A stone's throw from Regent's Park and around the corner from Oxford Street, you'd be hard pushed to find a better location than London Marriott Hotel Park Lane. If you're after crisp white linens to crash into following a day of hitting the shops or sightseeing, look no further for a convenient base with stellar service to match.
Refuel after a busy day with dinner at the hotel's Lanes of London restaurant (the beef bonbons and seafood linguine are musts) before heading to the spa to swim and sauna the evening away.
For those wanting an added romantic touch, their decadent Bed, Breakfast & Bubbles package is the ultimate way to round off a stay, allowing guests to indulge in plates such as prawn and lobster croquettes and grilled steak with eggs from the comfort of their room with unlimited sparkling wine. Breakfast in bed never looked so good!
Address: 140 Park Ln, London W1K 7AA.

Most romantic hotel in Aldgate
Why we love it: Fun fact: there's no such thing as awkward silences when you have an incredible view to admire. And Florattica, the rooftop bar at Canopy by Hilton, really delivers. Soak up that East London skyline with an aromatic cocktail (I went for 'Cyanar' – a savoury blend of black garlic-infused Tanqueray, Campari, and artichoke juice) and plenty of small plates to pique your senses. And yes, oysters are on the menu – with lashings of champagne, raspberry, and white balsamic vinaigrette to boot.
If you fancy making a night of it, you can book yourselves into one of the hotel's luxurious suites – some of which are pet-friendly, some of which contain a Peloton (whatever floats your boat).
Address: 11-15 Minories, City of London, London EC3N 1AX.
Most romantic hotel near Hyde Park
Why we love it: Perfect for local lovers looking for a change of scenery, staycationers looking for the perfect city break or visiting from abroad, Royal Lancaster London offers the ideal romantic base from which to explore the city.
The hotel is best known for its panoramic views across West London and Hyde Park so be sure to book a Deluxe Room or categories above for wrap around windows and play a game of 'which London landmark is that?' during your romantic night in. If you're feeling really fancy and want to impress your other half, book the Royal Suite, order room service and live your best life. You'll get MAJOR brownie points.

Most romantic hotel in London for design
Why we love it: Treehouse Hotel London is an Instagram lovers' dream. The 95 rooms (including 15 suites) housed between the 9th and 14th floor offer sweeping views across the city, while their nature-inspired interiors – featuring lifts encased in bark, cuckoo clocks, birch tree trunks and, of course, plenty of greenery – are like being in your own picturesque forest. Don't miss the delicious restaurants and bars on offer, including Madera, The Nest, The Courtyard – and the newest addition, Italian restaurant Pizzeria Mozza which serves up the most delicious pizza (including the must-try goat's cheese option with leeks, scallions, garlic and pancetta affumicata).
Address: 14-15 Langham Pl, London W1B 2QS.

Most romantic hotel in Clerkenwell
The Zetter Townhouse, Clerkenwell
Why we love it: This 13-bedroom Georgian townhouse is nestled in the heart of Clerkenwell, just over the cobbles of St John’s Square from the original Zetter Hotel. With interiors designed by Russell Sage, it’s quirky, eccentric and packed full of character. It kind of feels more like the private home of your Great Aunt than it does a hotel, but that’s what we love about it. The rooms are romantic (there are four-poster beds in most of them) and the cocktail lounge is the perfect spot for a Valentine’s Day tipple. Oh, and they serve a selected of small plates to accompany the house cocktails, so you definitely won’t go hungry.
Address: 49-50 St John's Sq, London EC1V 4JJ.

Most romantic hotel in London for afternoon tea
100 Queens Gate Hotel, South Kensington
Why we love it: There's something truly special about 100 Queens Gate Hotel. Nestled in the heart of South Kensington (just a short walk away from the Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park and the city's museums), it's part of the Hilton Curio collection, so it won't break the bank. If you've got a sweet tooth, you've got to try the afternoon tea - it's served in the Botanica which is any eager Instagrammer's dream.
Address: 100 Queen's Gate, South Kensington, London SW7 5AG.

Most romantic hotel in Marylebone
Why we love it: If you're driving each other mad in the flat, have a birthday to celebrate or just fancy treating your other half to a romantic sleepover, The Marylebone Hotel is a must-visit. Each of the hotel's room has been designed impeccably with that liveable luxury that makes it feel like a home from home (but far better, obv). Check into a suite and have champagne in your private lounge before heading down to the hotel's cosy bar – complete with plenty of nooks and crannies for private moments – for a few cocktails.
The hotel's brasserie is the perfect spot for a romantic dinner for two (we rate the juicy steak and chips washed down with a house margarita), then roll back to your hotel for a soak in the sunken marble tub. Bliss.
Address: 47 Welbeck St, London W1G 8DN.

Most romantic hotel near Oxford Circus
London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square
Why we love it: Is there anything more romantic than the dreamy duo of shopping plus cocktails? The Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square is the perfect choice if your idea of romance involves retail therapy à deux followed by cocktails and a luxury space to collapse into afterwards.
The hotel is situated just a short stroll from Selfridges in one direction and from Liberty of London in the other, so you can shop all day and then hide away together in the stylishly secluded Luggage Room Bar for delicious bespoke cocktails. This little hidden bar is the perfect address to kick off your date night and the cocktails are super chic, as are the waiters!
Then, onto dinner - and more cocktails - at the Gordon Ramsey Bar and Grill or, if you are lucky enough to get your hands on a reservation, at the hotel's aptly named Lucky Cat: the latest from Gordon Ramsey at The Marriott. Leave plenty of time to snuggle up in what is, in our opinion, the most cloud-like of beds we have ever experienced and not to mention the marble topped bathroom where you can even watch the tv from the bath tub. The hotel also does an insanely good breakfast with all the trimmings. You will leave with a spring in your step and the Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square firmly bookmarked a favourite.
Address: Grosvenor Sq, London W1K 6JP.
Most romantic hotel for history buffs
Belmond Cadogan Hotel, Chelsea
Why we love it: Belmond Hotels are honestly the best in the world and if you've been fortunate to stay at one, you'll be in the know. That's exactly why The Cadogan, the group's offering located between Chelsea and Knightsbridge, is a must-stay. Located a stone's throw from both bustling Knightsbridge and chilled Chelsea, The Cadogan is the perfect spot for a romantic city break. With 54 impeccably designed rooms (two-thirds of which are suites by the way), cosy interiors such as fireplaces, stained-glass windows, gold-leaf wall sconces and incredible art, it's the perfect spot for holing up for a celebratory night of romance. You may be in the centre of town but the hotel also benefits from its fantastic position overlooking the private Cadogan Palace Gardens, which guests have exclusive access to.
History buffs will fall in love with the place. It dates back to 1887 and is made up of restored Queen Anne-style buildings once home to the super chic socialite Lillie Langry (her original floorings have been restored and make for perfect 'from where I stand' Insta pics). The charming property was also a firm favourite hangout of Oscar Wilde so expect to see nods to the poet and playwright at every turn (look out for the crystal-embellished ostrich named after him). Oscar's room of choice —room 118— where he was arrested with a bottle of something alcoholic in hand (!) is now the hotel’s Royal Suite, complete stunning views, an epic corner bath and personal butler service.
The food is also fantastic so you won't need to leave. Kick off proceedings with a cocktail (the bartenders will surprise you with something deliciously strong) before dinner, which is under the culinary direction of celebrated chef, Adam Handling. Fans of Adam will know he's all about the seasonal, sustainably sourced ingredients and giving his own take on British classics. The homemade bread and cheese doughnuts with sinfully salty butter are next-level, beef tartare with crispy shallot and oyster makes the perfect starter and the steaks served with onion rings are out of this world.
When you're ready to retire to your room, drifting off to a blissful night's sleep won't be a problem because the hotel has launched The Sleep Concierge - a brand-new service in partnership with esteemed Harley Street Hypnotherapist and Sleep Expert, Malminder Gill. You get a pillow menu with a choice of luxurious pillows and a weighted blanket, a bedtime tea developed by The Cadogan that's perfect for sipping in the bath, a dreamy scented pillow mist and a sleep-inducing meditative recording by Malminder. Sweet dreams.

Most romantic hotel for a sexy, city mini-break
Why we love it: Not only is the five star boutique, South Place Hotel the perfect location for exploring the bright lights and city bars of Shoreditch or the shopping heaven of Spitalfields market - both in walking distance - it also boasts a Michelin star restaurant! Yup, the Angler restaurant atop of the hotel has fantastic views over the city and a British, seasonal menu, including a great selection of seafood from executive chef, Gary Foulkes. Or if Michelin star dining is a little out of your budget, the 3SP Brasserie style restaurant on the ground floor is renowned for its steak and has a great wine selection too (they also, of course, serve fish and vegetarian options).
And if that’s not all sexy enough, once you get into the rooms – all atmospherically dim lit to guarantee a mood of romance – you could order the ‘James Bondage’ kit from the room service menu! Beats a tub of Pringles and a mini bottle of Prosecco from the mini bar, and at £35 for a selection of lube, handcuffs and other – more risque – tantalising treats it really will put the ‘sex’ into your sexy weekend away.
Address: 3 South Pl, London EC2M 2AF.
Most romantic hotel in Richmond
The Bingham Riverhouse, Richmond
Why we love it: If central London is all getting a bit much, escape to quiet Richmond. The Bingham Riverhouse, as well as being right on the water’s front (as the name would suggest), prides itself on being a place where people come and go.
Some people spend the night (in seriously stylish bedrooms with copper bathtubs, no less), some people stop by for cocktails and some relax in the restaurant. On Friday 14th and Saturday 15th February, you can enjoy 7 courses for £95. Expect the very best.
Address: 61-63 Petersham Rd, Richmond TW10 6UT.

Most romantic hotel in London for theatre trips
The Henrietta Hotel, Covent Garden
Why we love it: Fancy staying in the heart of central London? This boutique hotel boasts a brilliant location but remains a quiet and cosy escape. Inspired by Covent Garden’s rich history with a nod to Italian design, the 40 bedrooms are bathed in pink and blue hues. Fancy an all pink and marble bathroom? Stay in the Henrietta room and you won’t be able to stop taking photos.

Most romantic, opulent hotel in London
Why we love it: Just off High Holborn, slap bang in the centre of London is one of the most luxurious hotels in the capital. This one might be a splurge of a staycation pick, but what better excuse than Valentine’s Day? You enter the hotel via a grand, cobbled courtyard, and the bedrooms come complete with comfy double beds, iPhone docking stations and Nespresso machines. Covent Garden is a 15 minute walk away, but we don’t think you’ll have any reason to leave...

Most romantic spa hotel in London
Nobu Hotel London Portman Square
Why we love it: Get excited because Nobu has just opened the doors to its latest hotel (the 13th from the portfolio) in the heart of London. Nobu Hotel London Portman Square is smack bang on the corner of Marylebone’s Portman Square (you'll spot the Instagrammable entrance and prime real estate outdoor terrace) and has 249 bedrooms, the iconic Nobu Restaurant & Bar and an impressive Pilates studio.
The reason the hotel is so damn romantic is because you can hole yourself up here with great food, cocktails, spa treatments right in the centre of the city. It wouldn't be a Nobu Hotel without some seriously aesthetically-pleasing interiors and, of course, the decor is a nod to Japanese architectural disciplines and minimalist design with subtle touches throughout (we loved the green tea set in the room). Be sure to book in for a romantic dinner at either Roku Japanese Gin Garden at Nobu Portman Square (a more immersive and casual affair) or Nobu Restaurant & Bar - if you know, you know. It's also worth noting that the breakfast in the super plush lounge was the best we've ever had.
Address: 22 Portman Square, London W1H 7BG.
Most romantic hotel in London for rooftop views
Why we love it: The ultimate romantic destination, ME London offers the chicest rooms you’ll find yet, with dark marble halls, floor to ceiling glass windows and a touch pad by your bed to make the room light up in any colour you like. Cool right? Recommended is the ‘Vibe’ room - perfect for two. No need to venture out, ME has everything you’d ever need for a weekend with your loved one. Head up to the iconic Radio Rooftop for the best views you’ll see in London (and a pretty epic Mediterranean platter and cocktails too). This is a must visit.

Attractions are within walking distance if you choose to leave, but there are ample excuses to stay put— a luxury spa, a sophisticated cocktail lounge, and a cosy restaurant serving hearty modern dishes.
